Life Hacks for Installing Car Seats

Do you break a sweat installing your car seat? Have you ever wondered if there’s an easier way? Here are a few tricks that will help you work smarter, not harder.

Inside Out

This trick can be used with any car seat with an open belt path (most all car seats). It’s shown here with a rear facing seat but the same concept can be applied for forward facing seats as well. We’ve also shown it with lower anchor method but it can also be helpful when installing with a seatbelt.

Let It Sit

This trick is particularly helpful for Diono convertibles when installing forward facing but may come in handy for other seats as well. Rather than forcing a seat back into the crease of the seat, let it sit where it naturally fits best (just watch overhang).

Seatback Recline

This final trick is very helpful with certain seats like Graco Tranzitions or any other narrow / high belt path seats HOWEVER this trick only works in vehicles that have a reclining vehicle seat…think SUVs vs. sedans. PLEASE NOTE this trick should only be used if you’ve tried traditional methods first and still can’t achieve a proper installation. In some cases this method could exert too much stress on the belt path so use it as a last resort.
