Darren is traveling today but he wanted to share some really big news from Lifesavers with our blog readers. Often, the most productive aspect of these big conferences isn’t what you learn in the workshop sessions – it’s what you pick up networking with the advocates and schmoozing the reps. Case in point, one of his reliable sources has confirmed that a major CR manufacturer has purchased the rights to some of the old Fisher-Price child restraint designs and is tweaking them for re-release as the Futura80 and Stay-In-View32! We don’t know if the names will change before they are released but the word is that they’ll be unveiled at the ABC Kids Expo in September and should be on store shelves shortly thereafter!

That was mean…but hilarious that something like that would get us all riled up!
Actually, the credit for doing a fools about a long-awaited car seat goes to someone else altogether. I’d name her, but I’m sure she doesn’t want all the angry emails!
Kecia and I had tossed around some other ideas. Kecia was going to run with a humorous news release that the new curriculum was going to allow duct tape for installations. I had suggested a fake news story that NHTSA or a “Leading Consumer Magazine” was issuing a safety alert about crotch strap positioning. We tossed around some others until we got this idea.
I knew it was a keeper when I called Heather from the car and asked her if she had heard today’s news from Lifesavers. She bought it for a minute, even knowing I had left Lifesavers the previous afternoon! So, many thanks to the contributor and apologies to anyone who got their hopes up too high!
Well, maybe some manufacturer will take a hint now!
any hints as to which manufacturer??
What?! WOOT! Can’t wait….
Wait! What? Yeah, right, blame the one who has been on a plane for the past 4 hours.
But you never know . . . It’s always the innocent quiet ones who hear everything ;).
I completely deny telling Kecia that a major manufacturer purchased the rights to FP seats! I blame Heather.
Oh, PLEASE say this ISN’T just an April Fool’s Day joke…updated versions of the Futura and SIV would be FABULOUS!
Wait … this is an April Fools Day joke, isn’t it? 😉
Oooo, can’t wait until we know more about these seats!
I wish I was having another baby!! LOL I’ve got 2 FP Stay in Views that I just pitched the covers and straps to. I hate throwing away the plastic shells, and am hoping to find somewhere to recycle them!
Very exciting! Can’t wait to hear more about the conference.
Neato! I can’t wait! I hope there’s a FPSE 65, too.
cool! I can’t wait to see them. The original FP seats had been discontiued for years before I even thought about CPS, but I’ve only ever heard good things.
Wow, I know a lot of people who are going to be very happy at that news. 😀
(Any rumors about other new seats? :P)
Very cool. Looking forward to the full Lifesavers report.
StayInView32? With the webbing strap? That’s not quite enough to get me pregnant again, but it’s YAY!!
