Happy Thanksgiving from our families to yours! We hope everyone has a fantastic holiday and safe travels to and from your destination. If you’re lucky enough to be staying home tomorrow – I’m jealous. We’ll be sitting in traffic trying to get to Long Island. Yeah… so not fun. But I still have tons to be thankful for so I’ll try to keep that in mind while I’m creeping along on the Van Wyck Expressway.
Of course I’m thankful for great friends, a wonderful family, our health, a roof over our heads, the food on our table and all the other important stuff that I try never to lose sight of. But this is CarseatBlog so I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the CPS-related stuf that I’m super thankful for this year.
I’m thankful for (in no particular order)…
- Backless Turbo boosters that come fully assembled and with the screws already in the armrests
- Dorel’s new dual level-to-ground lines
- Lots of new infant seats (and even a few convertibles) that fit smaller newborns really well
- My pre-advisory Regent installed with long belt path routing in my minivan (the perfect seat for my DS2 in my vehicle)
- The new AAP recommendations on carseat and booster usage
- All the smart, passionate & dedicated techs, instructors and advocates that I learn from everyday
So, what are you thankful for this year?
I, too, am thankful for all the obvious things, but I will stick to CPS here ;). I’m thankful we’re in a position where I can pursue my CPS interests without many difficulties–our guest writer Matt is wonderful! I’m thankful for the internet because it gives CPS a voice. I remember how hard it was to find carseat information back when my ds was a baby–it’s why I started http://www.carseatsite.com. The internet has also given me many good friends and allowed me to connect with old ones. I’m thankful for all the carseats choices now available in ERF and EH. It wasn’t much of a choice back in the day when my ds needed both and there were only 1-2 seats available. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving all! Of course, I am also thankful for the important things. Family, health, shelter, food and free country that allows us to worship (or not) as we please, for the most part anyway! In terms of CPS, I have a few things as well. 1) Heather, Kecia, Jennie and our guest bloggers who keep writing when I’m lazy, uninspired or otherwise preoccupied! 2) All the readers and members of CarseatBlog and Car-Seat.Org for being part of a great community and for spreading the word about child passenger safety! 3) Selfishly, readers and members who support our sponsors and advertisers by viewing ads and buying stuff from Amazon and others through our links! 4) All the resources like CarseatBlog that are basically free to parents and caregivers to help them keep their kids as safe as possible from their #1 killer. Given the lack of funding compared to other causes that don’t cause a fraction of the injuries or deaths to kids, the epidemic of motor vehicle fatalities would be even worse without these internet resources.
I hope all who celebrate have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am staying home with my wonderful family, which I am glad about as I don’t like traveling during this hectic travel week. I am thankful this year that my family is healthy. This year has brought our family much change, but I am thankful that we have overcome most of the obstacles so far and hopefully can handle whatever life throws us next year.
