So long- I’m outta here! But I’m not leaving you without a contest 🙂
The prize? A sporty CarseatBlog short-sleeve Polo. It’s an XL, and perhaps even a little big for an XL, so be warned. If it’s too big, give it to your hubby or maybe the friendly police/fire tech in your town or make a few bucks and put it up on Carseat Swap O’ Rama for someone else who might want it! The winner should also receive a CarseatBlog keychain, provided they arrive in time!
The contest? My family is off to Israel and Jordan for a two week vacation/pilgrammage. During most of that time, we will have a driver/guide provided by the tour company. I have no idea what type of vehicle they will provide, but since it is not a group tour, I assume it will not be a bus (but who knows?). Theoretically, they are to provide a booster for my youngest son. In total, there are 6 of us. Three adults (my wife, my sister and me) and our three kids. The question is, how many of the 6 of us can be adequately restrained (by my judgement) in whatever seating arrangement we deem best, most convenient or easiest to keep the kids from fighting. This generally means lap + shoulder belts, adequate head restraint, more or less meeting the 5-step test for the older kids and a booster in good condition that appears to have been made in the last 10 years and results in at least a mediocre belt fit for my youngest.
Each contestant is allowed one guess. Upon my return, I will post the answer I deemed to be the most correct. Keep in mind there are likely to be grey areas and in the case where more than one number seems valid; I will just pick among those at my discretion. Then, I will randomly pick a winner among those who choose the same number that I post. Of course, I will include photos and videos that you can use to dispute the results, but as is the case in FIFA World Cup football referee decisions, my opinion is final and I don’t even have to tell you why!
Only your first guess counts (even if I happen to post a blog with a photo or related comment during my trip!). Everyone is welcome to guess, including Heather and Kecia (who I know aren’t interested in the prizes anyway so don’t worry!).
Two runners-up will be awarded a free 2-month supporter subscription to Car-Seat.Org. If they are already a supporter or benefactor, they will have 2 months added to their current subscription. Sponsors are not eligible for the runner-up prize, sorry!
The contest is open until I post the winning number (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6). This could be at any time during or after the trip. Prizes may not be awarded/shipped until mid-July. If you are outside the USA, you may be responsible for shipping charges, sorry!
Hmm… I’ll guess six, since it is a fairly new, custom vehicle. Have an absolutely fabulous trip!
I say 1… I am a pessimist LOL
I guess 5
1. I bet it’s a pickup truck and the booster is decent. You’d of course never put the lightest kid in the bed of a pickup, so he gets the front seat. Use sunscreen and hats, m’kay?
Just kidding, hope you guys are having a great time!!!!
I’m going with one – front passenger 😉
I have no idea what the interior of that van looks like but I’m going to be the odd one and say 0, thinking there might be low seat backs and therefore inadequate head support for everyone.
I’m going to say 4.
I’m guessing 6! Yay for optimism.
I think all 6 are properly restrained.
4
I’m guessing 5, but I’m really not entering the contest, since I won the booster. 😉
6!
Hello from a hammock just off our beach on the Meditteranean! I will give you a little hint, but it’s really not a very good hint. We’ve finished our first tour day. Our van was a semi-custom 9-passenger Ford E350 Econoline. I’d say it was at least 3-4 years old, but not more than 10 years old. Certainly a little more plush and roomy than the Mercedes Benz taxi we had (that was essentially a Dodge/Freightliner Sprinter) from the airport. Our youngest showed his appreciation by getting sick in it before we got to our first stop:-( He was fine the rest of the day, though! I’ll probaby post the winning number in a day or two. There isn’t much of a grey area!
I’m guessing five.
Have a fun, safe trip.
I’m guessing four.
Six. I’m an optimist.
I say two. :p
I’d guess three.
I guess five.
Yes we will be going to Petra and also to Bethlehem, both of which will be in different vehicles than the rest of the tour. Those vehicles don’t count for purposes of the contest;-)
I went to Israel and Jordan many years ago. In Jordan, we had a tour guide and I *think* we had a separate driver, too. There were four travelers: my dad and me, and a couple from Britain who we didn’t know.
I can’t for the life of me remember what kind of vehicle we had. I’m guessing it was a van.
Anyway, my guess is 4. I’m betting on lap-only belts in a couple positions.
Have a great time! Are you going to Petra? That is the most amazing place on earth.
4
3!
Darren, They are going to show up in the teeniest, tiniest vehicle you have ever seen. It may be a car, it may be a van, but either way, it will make your Sienna/Oddy look like one of those massive conversion vans. Your (unboostered) children will be sitting in outboard seats and will still be shoulder to shoulder. Hopefully there will be working seatbelts for atleast half of you… and good luck w/ the headrests!
Enjoy your trip! 😉
