Is the full review up somewhere? I’m searching your website and can’t find it.
We’re working on it!
Trying to determine if this will fit in the center position of my 2016 Kia Soul, next to a rear facing Clek Fllo. Or if I am better off with the Diono 3RXT? Hoping we can have 2 seats next to each other and enough space for a 3rd person in the back… we love Chicco, but really need to maximize space
So I purchased a myfit car seat back in February of 2018. At first we loved the car seat it is super comfortable and my daughter is on the smaller side so she was super excited to be able to turn around in face forward. But now I really hate this seat. The push button that is to tighten the harness is so easy to reach and she can push the button going down the road and when doing this the harness untightes and she can get out. She is 3 and half and I know she is not the only three year that is able to figure this out. This is a huge problem.
Holley, I haven’t heard of any issues with the MyFit and kids reaching the harness release button—she must have long arms (have her get into pitching in softball!). The button is pretty accessible, though, as you mentioned. Just keep up with the discipline and perhaps give her some fidget toys to keep her mind and hands occupied: https://amzn.to/2Ee2sPh.
When will your full review come out for the Myfit? I am concerned about the chest plate pad bothering my daughter and was hoping for some feedback before we buy.
Hi Becky – our full review is coming very soon. We haven’t had any complaints (from our kids or our models) about the required chest pads. Even though they are a different material, they are similar in their positioning to the Britax HUGS pads which most kids aren’t bothered by. HTH!
Is a full review available yet? In light of the Consumer Report news (10-17-18) on the Britax harness-to-booster seats, I’m very curious about your new list of Recommended seats (and if the Chicco will be among them).
Hi Paige. The review is in process and should be done soon!
Hi there. Thanks for the valuable info! May I ask, is the weight limit for LATCH is the child weight limit only OR it is the combined weight of Myfit + child weight ? Thank you so much!
Hi Gladys. It’s the child’s weight limit. So when we say the LATCH weight limit is 40 lbs. you don’t have to worry about the weight limit of the carseat at all.
I don’t understand the latch limit. It states harness can be used for child 20-65lbs and height up to 57 inches. My child weighs 45lbs and 48.5 inches tall. I wanted to keep her in a harness, so if the latch weight limit is 40lbs then is the specifications for harness weight and height wrong? I’m confused
Kara, that means that you must disconnect the lower LATCH connectors, if that is how you have installed the carseat, and switch to a seat belt installation. The lower anchors and the LATCH connectors on the carseat have weight limits due to their design, so once the child reaches the weight limit specified by the manufacturers, you have to switch to the seat belt. It’s not a problem because the seat belt is designed to hold a full-sized adult male and your child will be able to use her carseat’s harness until she reaches 65 lbs. or until she grows too tall for it (shoulders over the top slots or ears above the top of the headrest).
Got mine in yesterday. Got it at a steal for 160.00 My son loves it! He says its comfy and fits tight in my Nissan Rogue.
Does anyone know when babies r us will sell the LE version? For now they only have the MyFit base model. Thanks
Hi Melissa, the original plan was for them to also sell the LE version but they’re about to go out of business so who knows if that will ever happen.
I am torn between the regular myfit and the myfit le. If the myfit does not have the super cinch latch pulls is it hard to get them tight enough? Is it worth getting the le for the super cinch latch pulls?
Micaela – in my opinion, it is worth getting the LE version if your child is under 40 lbs. and you plan to install the seat in a seating position that has LATCH. If your child is close to or over the LATCH weight limit of 40 lbs., then it makes more financial sense to just get the regular version. HTH!
I can’t get it tight enough using latch in my nissan rogue and i am the ” tight via latch ” queen.
Do you have the regular MyFit or the LE model with SuperCinch?
We picked the non-LE version up at Target ($200 +tax) on 1/9 but didn’t get it installed until the next night, so we’ve been using it for 4 days so far. It replaced our NextFit Zip in Mom’s daily driver. Our 33lb, 41″ 4 year-old was at the top setting in the NextFit and his shoulders were level with the straps. It’s going to be a while before he hits the magical (well, legal) 40-lb threshold, and his legroom was diminishing as his feet get bigger, so whereas we once thought we’d be able to jump to a belt-positioning booster when the time came, we decided to move up to a harness booster.
Installation was easy. I did miss the supercinch from the NextFit (which is included in the LE version), but at 25lbs this will not be a travel or loan-to-grandma anyway (we have a 9lb Cosco Finale for that), so now that it’s installed it will stay there absent the occasional spill that has to be addressed. While we’re on the subject of things I’d like to have from the LE — the “Comfort Flex” waist strap, which I assume is the same as on the NextFit; for that reason, we scavenged it off our NextFit and put it on the MyFit, and it makes a big difference not having to fish around for the fasteners that inevitably sink to the bottom of the strap. (If you don’t have one you can scavenge, they sell the Comfort Flex strap as part of the $20 replacement “Comfort Kit” on the Chicco website).
Other things I liked about it when shopping, (1) despite its heft, the MyFit has a pretty low profile (width, seat height, back depth) relative to the other harness boosters we saw. That’s important for us as we have installed it in a VW Golf Sportwagen, a smaller than average wagon. Compared to his NextFit (yes, apples to oranges, but it’s what I was trying to improve on for him), he now has 1.5 inches more space from the front edge of the seat to the back of the front seat and sits 2 inches lower. (2) A lot of the models we saw, either as storage or simply as a design feature, had non-removable spaces (including cupholders) that were clearly going to become catch-basins for food and spills. The only apparent area for that on the MyFit is the cupholders, both of which remove easily (but don’t protrude, tilt, or fall off like on convertible seats). (3) While further in our future, the belt positioning seemed more straightforward than a lot of the other boosters on the market.
Thanks for the excellent feedback, Mike. We appreciate it and hope that MyFit will serve your family well!
I’m annoyed the harness covers and crotch pad are separate, especially since they’re pictured on it. How was the harness adjuster when installed?
Hi Cookie – they’re included, but they’re optional (meaning their usage isn’t required). The chest clip pads aren’t optional, they must be used.
Thanks Kecia!
Thanks Kecia! Sorry I got that wrong!
No worries! Sorry that I wasn’t more clear about that. 🙂
Will this carseat have the reinforced steel frame?
Will this seat fit in a Tesla Model X? Not every booster seat can access to the seat belt buckle.
Janna, I have a Model X and haven’t had a chance yet to try it out. I know all too well about access to the buckle and it’s very tough to reach. Let me ask Kecia to measure the base between the seat belt anchors since that’s where fit really matters.
Thank you! Our twins are getting ready to transition out of their Foonfs and its been a challenge to find a booster that will fit in both the second and third row of the Model X because of the buckle constraints.
Hi-
Any updates? I am having challenges finding a harness booster that doesn’t interfere with the headrest on the center back seat of our Model S. Am curious if you found this seat to be compatible with the Model X?
Jen, the headrest of the MyFit does press into the headrest on the X, but when I showed a pic to the Chicco rep, she said it was fine.
If the latch only goes to 40 lbs, how do you secure the seat when the child is using the lap belt?
Hi Haley – if using the seat in harness mode, you install MyFit with seatbelt and tether if the child is over 40 lbs.
Just to clarify, “LATCH can be used in booster” is this the same for all seats? Or just this one. I thought LATCH could not be used beyond 40 lbs. I have a 6 year old-my oldest- and we are soon venturing into booster mode. This transition is new to me! We are still in harness mode. Thanks! I love Chicco! Excited about this!
Hi Kyla – not all combination seats (aka harness/booster seats) allow you to secure the seat with latch when using the product in booster mode. If you have a combination seat and you are getting ready to use the seat in booster mode, check the instruction manual for info on transitioning to booster mode and whether or not you can use latch, or if you have to store the latch connectors, in booster mode.
We bought Chicco’s comfort kit for the next fit, which reduced significantly the twisting of straps. Are you finding the straps on this are twisty? We also found the harness hard to tighten, is this easier? Is this narrower than the next fit, as that’s what we have now? With the LE, do you find that the premium fabric, air panels and leatherette armrests really adds to the comfort of the seat? The regular Chicco are very warm, even for my daughter who doesn’t seem to sweat, except in the next fit. (We like Chicco and the next fit a lot, I’m sounding super negative! I’m just wanting to know about the niggling issues we had, and if they graduated to the next level seat.)
How does seat go from harness to seatbelt? Does the harness have to be removed or does it tuck away?
Will the MyFit install well in the middle row center jump seat of a 2016 Honda Odyssey?
Does anyone know the answer to the above question?
Mary, let me see if Jennie can help. I don’t know if her MY Ody is similar or not. I would guess it would fit because it’s similar in width to Diono Radian convertibles.
Ah, Mary, Jennie’s is a different model year. I still think it should fit, but if you’re purchasing one, be sure to hang onto the box and the receipt so you can return it if you need to.
Oh wow 17.5 inches is not bad at all! I may have to grab one as my husband likes to call me a collector of expensive narrow seats 😏
I thought that was the most likely name this seat would have! I love SuperCinch, lock offs, and cool fabrics!
I love this seat so far! Can’t wait to see one in person!
How awesome to have a premium option that is narrower!
Yay! I’m excited about this. We love our Kidfit. I have one rfing that will move to ffing in the new year, and I have been contemplating getting a combo seat as I don’t prefer the current seat ffing . . .
