If your accelerator jams while you’re driving, remember: NEUTRAL!
for those who chose to talk on the phone and drive, get a JAWBONE earpiece so you are hands free. it is sooo comfortable, stays in your ear perfectly, volume is awesome and crystal clear, easy to operate. it is a little on the big side IMO but when you need your hands to drive, well there you go.
and of course ERF!!
also, a get a seperate mirror to view your child so your review mirror is only used for driving! and so you also arent turning your body around to view what your child is doing.
Don’t eat and drive!
Never give your child a sippy cup with a straw and non screw on lid. Major distraction when it spills and you’re trying to drive. 🙂
use your turn signals correctly. If you intent to turn half a mile down the road the appropriate time to turn the blinker on would be as you are nearing your turn not 2 stop lights prior.
If you want to maintain sanity on long car trips, make sure your two year old has a dvd player stocked with lots of her favourite movies.
We do not text and drive! Never! How on earth could you? we stay off our phone, buckle up properly (EVERYONE) and try to keep the car clear of heavy and sharp projectiles. (we do allow the kids to bring stuffed animals along.)
Of course we keep our kids rear facing as long as possible!
Don’t rely solely on your mirrors before you change lanes. Look over your shoulders people!!
Pay attention to your surroundings and put the cell phone down. Your call or text message is really not that important and can wait until you are not driving a deadly weapon down the road that other people are sharing.
*singing*
“Keep your mind on your drivin’, keep your hands on the wheel, keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead….”
Words to live by (sometimes quite literally)
😀
Everything in the vehicle is potentially a projectile. Toys, sippy cups everything so be careful what you allow in your vehicle as it could end up coming back and hitting you.
If you are driving and have a STOP sign, it means STOP. It doesn’t mean almost hit the car that has the right of way and then honk and curse at that person because YOU were wrong. Oh and put your make-up on at HOME! 🙂
Maintain your vehicle properly so that it is in proper working order. Having your vehicle die on the freeway during rush hour is very dangerous! (And will worry your significant other sick!)
ALWAYS drive with your eyes OPENED!
Make sure you have an emergency roadside kit in your car at all times. You never know when you might need it! A first aid kit along with some water and a blanket couldn’t hurt either (yes, I’m always the one who’s over-prepared)!
Don’t talk on your cell phone while driving!
Turn signals: they’re not just ornamental!
Put DOWN the cell phone!!!
Watch the road. 🙂
Make sure that everyone is properly restrained before putting the car into gear – this means child restraints or seat belts as needed. It’s taken a while, but I’ve finally gotten my husband to wear his own seat belt consistently!
Oh I want on eof thoses seats!
-Muzzle the kids while driving so they dont distract you.
You should not breastfeed your child while driving but rather pull over….. yes, someone has done that before 🙁
Always make sure to double and triple check the distance of the car/object behind you before you back up. *blushes*
Rear facing is safer for babies and toddlers! Keep your child rear facing as long as possible!
I would love this to replace our SR22 (that both my other kids outgrew at 5-6 months old) for our baby due next month!
Always use a turn signal! This may seem obvious, but it appears to me that where we live they must not come standard on all cars 😉
