As you may or may not know, we are in need of an appointee to head the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Some child passenger safety advocates were hopeful that Charles Hurley, CEO of MADD, would be the next head. Unfortunately, his nomination was withdrawn.
So, I’m thinking, why not Kecia? Or Heather. Or me. Really, why not all three of us? I’m sure we’d be happy to split the salary! Someday, the #1 killer of kids will get the attention of the administration. Why shouldn’t that day be today? So, if you have the President’s blackberry info, please give him a call and mention us!
Joan Claybrook held the post under Carter. That would be another possibility for someone with experience, though I think she recently stepped down at Public Citizen and may now be retired.
If it can’t be any of us, then perhaps they should beg Nicole Nason to come back. I saw her speak at the Lifesavers conference in Chicago a few years ago and she blew me away. After that speech, I was ready to vote for her for President!
My cousin worked on his campaign but I don’t think they’re in contact anymore. Sorry. 😉
We could always just hang a bunch of posters with your nominations on the White House fence! Maybe he’d get the hint.
