No, it’s not another updated version of a Snugride, Snugride 30, Snugride 35 or SmartSeat with just a new number behind it! It’s essentially all-new; base and carrier. Stay tuned for our review of the Graco Snugride Quick Connect 40 infant seat, available initially at Babies R Us for $219.99. According to Graco, it will accomodate most preemies and newborns all the way until 2-years old! It’s also got Graco’s new stroller attachment system and will work with various upcoming stroller models. There are internal side impact protection wings, a no-rethread harness and an innovative base recline system that increases foot room as older kids become more upright! A pop up foot rest not only protects the vehicle seat back from dirty shoes, but also has tiny feet imprints to help give parents re-assurance that’s it is OK for the child to be able to have their feet touching the seat.

I laughed out loud when I saw Jonathan’s feet in the box in the background! We just bought a new Frontier for my almost 4-year-old, and both kids are still playing Oscar the Grouch in it. Oh, and nice seat . . . not that I wish for another baby to put in it 🙂
@ Karen – glad to hear you like the seat so far! Let us know how you feel after using it for a few weeks. And good luck with the impending arrival! 🙂
I went to babies r us first thing this morning and was able to purchase the mena car seat and stroller. The store had just received them in their 4 am shipment and had not even had a chance to look at them. They had only received one mena stroller (for display I assume) but they were still willing to sell it to me.
We brought our old graco snugride stroller with us to see if it would “connect” but it did not fit. We traded in the old stroller to get 25% off the car seat.
I love this seat already! The base was so easy to install and the car seat is not heavy like I thought it would be. Love the fabric and the colors. The headrest adjuster is so easy to use. Our baby is due any day, so I am so glad we were able to get this car seat before she was born. If she was born any earilier I would have had to settle for a another car seat.
I wish I had this car seat when my son was born three years ago.
Does anyone know what happened with this seat? It was supposed to be released today, 9/07 and has disappeared from the babiesrus website and graco’s site list no retailer available for it.
So is it true that it will not “connect” with an older snugride stroller? I would hate to have to buy a new stroller when our old one works perfectly well.
Yes, I believe the new “Connect” system is not directly compatible. Perhaps there will be an adapter some day? I will try to find out.
Is the base anti-rebound? It looks like it comes up pretty high on the vehicle seat, and then it goes up REALLY high with the foot rest thing up.
This seat looks really cool, I’m just scared people will be putting their 2(give or take) year olds in a HBB once this seat is outgrown.
I wish I could try my 20m old in one! Looks great! Is the base required at any weight?
Oh neat! I can’t wait to get these in the store (neither can some customers who’ve seen them on the webpage for weeks and weeks already).
That was a pretty thorough unboxing! I’m impressed!
Can’t wait to hear more about this seat! It looks neat!
Brandy-
It is not particularly small or light weight. Unfortunately, that tradeoff pretty much goes with the territory of fitting kids to 2 years and 40 pounds.
the fabric looks decent, just wondering how heavy it is and how it would fit in smaller cars. Wish they would bring the Duo Logic over here.
Funny that several Graco convertible manuals still contain warnings about feet touching the seat, yet this seems to promote rear-facing well past that stage. Heh.
It’s a very interesting concept! I’m very interested to see it come out and play with it more. 🙂
LOL… so you open a box and you find… ANOTHER BOX
Parents in NYC and other big cities that only use carseats in cabs unite and sigh in relief that there is an infant seat that can get a kid through until they are big enough for a safety 1st go or a ride safer travel vest!
I’m just hoping it will really fit most kids to 40lbs so parents can just go straight to a ff seat after (fingers crossed here)
Let me see: I’m way too old to be getting up at all hours with a newborn and my kids are way too young to be giving me grandchildren. Argh! I’m so in-between! If I had had my kids when I was in my teens, I could be having grandbabies to put in this seat now. Guess I’ll have to settle for my evil dolls. But I am drooling.
That looks very cool. I can’t wait to see some 1-2 year olds in it.
And I think you need a GoPro helmet cam for all the unboxing videos 🙂
Jessica- If she is under 36″, that would be great. I’m around most days this week if you are available. I plan to have it for a week or two, then it is most likely going to Kecia I think.
I’d love to see some pics of the bucket next to the SungRide 35 and possibly a comfort Sport to see how tall it actually is.
Darren are you keeping it or sending it on for a review? Id love to stick my youngest in it. She might be over 35″ though I need to check.
Yes, the manual clearly lists a 35″ height limit. On the plus side, with the insert, the lowest harness strap slots are just over 6″ tall. You can also re-route the crotch strap clip back through the second slot to shorten it for preemies. So, the fit on the Huggable Images preemie doll is better than the Snugride 30.
Darren – can you confirm the stated height limit for this seat? I believe it is 35″ but want to make sure that’s what I saw listed on the sticker label.
Very interesting. Can’t wait to hear more. Looks like there are a few innovative new features to play with.
I’m looking forward to seeing an average sized 2 yo in this seat.
Okay so not my best unboxing video! Apologies for the poor lighting and also the camera noise midway through. I dropped my camera during a recent video:( These unboxings aren’t staged, so it’s kind of a one-take sort of thing lol.
Also, to clarify, there is a “dual zone” recline indicator that allows older babies to be LESS reclined than newborns (as opposed to more reclined, like I said in the video). The seatbelt lockoff is similar to the one in the Graco Snugride 35 base, rather than the Snugride 30 base that lacks such a lockoff.
