Sometimes we get the inside scoop on something. Maybe a new model coming to market, maybe a recall, maybe a clever accessory. That’s great if we get to break the news. It stinks when we have to keep it a secret. On the other hand, when someone else gives up the secret inside goods, we’re all to happy to share it.
Just check out this blog for some great gossip on upcoming Britax products, including the Roundabout 50, the Marathon CS, Chaperone Infant seat and Parkway 120! There’s also a new Blink stroller. The Advocate is already announced and close to market. We actually spilled the beans on that one last fall. Aside from the Advocate, the other models are earlier in development. So, all this information is very preliminary and intended for sales personnel to discuss with retail buyers. If these products do make it to retail shelves, they may well have different features than what is listed. In fact, I know that some of the things I heard about the Chaperone changed between a year ago and the ABC show last fall. The same was true of some of the early Frontier information that made it out to retailers.
Still, like any gossip, it makes for interesting discussion;-) Just don’t put aside buying a child restraint you need now for a feature that may not make it to release or a model that may not ever make it off the prototype shelf!
Just remembering the last time we went round this whole frenzy of anticipation about a not-yet-released seat makes me really appreciate how mum Graco was when they released the Nautilus!!
I couldn’t agree more… it’s great to have new seats and new features, but you have to have a seat to fit your child, even if it means you can’t get the latest and greatest.
Plus, it’s just not a Roundabout without a push-button harness adjuster!
I agree with Ulrike – new names all around!
And as far as seats that may or may not make it to store shelves … remember the Advocate? The FIRST Advocate? (Never did understand why they re-used that name.)
I sincerely hope that “Roundabout 50” and “Parkway 120” are just working names and not what will be released with the final product. Consumers and techs have been frustrated with Graco’s naming strategy for YEARS. Please do NOT give different seats the same name. It’s confusing and irritating.
Will the Parkway still be great for three-across with armrests?
I shudder at the idea of Marathon CS after seeing what happened with the Blvd. Don’t mess with a good thing!
The Roundabout 50, though, might make the Roundabout the seat of choice, with a long-lasting FF-only seat to purchase afterward.
I agree, ditch the armrests!!! Add a better cup holder and a latch.
Hoo boy, who’s excited about a dedicated bpb coming back from Britax?! I do wish it didn’t have the armrests, though. That’s one of my favorite features of that seat! Neither of my kids missed the armrests when they use(d) the seat and it makes buckling sooooo much easier.
Very true–not only may the seat never make it to the shelves, but if it does it won’t be too soon.
