Easy Car Seat Install Hack with LATCH

Installation trick for Graco 4Ever in a Toyota RAV4

This isn’t a new trick. I learned it 20 years ago in a class and we’ve discussed it various times in the past.  It’s easier to do with some car seats than others, but you can usually find a way to pull the LATCH adjuster strap inward across the car seat by lifting the fabric cover or finding another path to avoid tightening the strap outward away from the car seat.

Call it a mom-hack or dad-hack or life-hack or whatever you like, but it’s a very simple “old school” trick to help install many rear-facing-only infant seat bases and convertible car seats when using the LATCH system.  As always, check the warnings and limits in your owner’s manuals and on the labels!

Don’t have 5 minutes to spare listening to me drone on?  Here’s the quick version!
