2011 KIM Conference Notes & Comments

I’m still here in Orlando enjoying a few extra days with the family. It’s been a hectic week with the KIM Conference, family obligations & lots of networking (and Mojitos)!  Tonight I’m giving my liver a break and trying to catch up on work-related stuff.

Overall, it was a great conference attended by many of the most dedicated CPS professionals in the industry.  I had attended the 1st and 2nd KIM Conferences here in Orlando but missed all the subsequent ones so it was nice to be back and see how its grown over the years.  Darren and I presented a workshop on Day 1: Using Social Media to Expand & Enhance CPS Education in the Era of Technology.  I thought it went really well and we received positive feedback and comments so hopefully our attendees were pleased with the information they received.  Ryan from Dorel offered to hold my “baby” during the presentation and he was so cute with “him” that I had to snap a pic.  Thanks, Ryan – you’re the bestest baby holder in the whole world!

Child Passenger Safety & Alcohol

Usually, those two things do not go together.  Unless you’re at a Child Passenger Safety Conference in which case they go together very nicely!  Today I’m making mojitos after lunch. But I’d like to come up with fun, cps-related drinks or shots to offer our fellow party-friendly conference attendees.  So far, I’ve come up with Screaming Sceneras, Fuzzy Locking Latchplates & Dirty Bights (Darren’s idea – he says that sounds better than dirty cracks)!  ROFL!

Anyhow, I don’t know what any of these drinks would be made with but we can iron out the details later.  Help us out here – we need more drink suggestions!

2011 Lexus CT 200h Review: A Cool Little Hybrid

With its distinctively sporty styling, the Lexus CT 200h is a break from the other traditionally styled Lexus vehicles. With an engine based on the Toyota Prius, the CT 200h is a hybrid vehicle capable of up to 43 city/40 highway mpg. But can you compare a hip new car to its now stodgier cousin?

The last time I drove a Prius was a few years ago when the updated body style was introduced. Back then, hybrids were rare and the Prius was much more interesting than the Honda Civic hybrid. It has the sleek lines of a futuristic car. Then Lexus came out with the CT 200h this summer and the rules changed. Now hybrids can be cool, fun to drive, and you still get boffo mileage.
