Issue:

The self-retracting lower LATCH anchor mechanism in the base can experience resistance during normal activation causing deformation of the feature that is intended to move the retractor mechanism into the fully locked position. Once the feature is deformed, the lower anchors in the base may not keep the base securely installed to the vehicle.

Remedy

Owners are advised to secure their recalled infant car seat bases with the vehicle seatbelt, or install the carrier directly without using the base, until a replacement base arrives.

Installation with seatbelt: These infant car seat bases are easy to install properly with a seatbelt because they have a belt-tensioning lockoff. You don’t have to put a lot of effort into getting the seatbelt super tight; just pull the seatbelt reasonably snug and close the lockoff over it. The lockoff will apply the force needed to tighten the seatbelt on the base. Check that the base moves less than 1″ when you test for tightness at the beltpath.

Dorel will mail a replacement base to *registered owners*, free of charge.
