We reserve the right to deem any entry as ineligible for any reason, though this would normally only be done in the case of a violation of the spirit of the rules above. We also reserve the right to edit/update the rules if necessary.

The contest will close on Sunday night, 12/23, and a random winner will be chosen on Monday, 12/24. If a winner is deemed ineligible based on shipping restrictions or other issues or does not respond to accept the prize within 30 days, a new winner will be selected.

Good luck!

iDrive You Crazy

With Christmas nearly upon us, it’s time to finish the holiday shopping! If you’re anything like me, you have no idea what to get for that special someone in your life. With smart phones, e-readers, and tablets more popular than ever, a techy-type gift would be great, but where to start?

Well, how about something to take that iPad or Kindle to the next level?

We all know the dangers of texting and driving. Hold the device up above the steering wheel and you obstruct your view of the road. Hold it in your lap, you risk a crick in the neck. Who wants that? If only there were a way to make texting/browsing while driving more comfortable and convenient!

Enter the iDrive! I found it at Target for the amazingly low price of $5! This steering-wheel-mounted device can hold your tablet right at hands’ level! Your eyes will barely have to leave the road while you finish that novel or play Sudoku.

Even better, the iDrive can be mounted on a motorcycle, bike, or even a jet-ski! (Be careful not to get your Nook wet, though.)

Before you have a heart attack or throw your computer/mobile device across the room in fury (or veer off the road if you’re using an iDrive): I’m sort-of kidding.

I really did buy this at Target, but it’s just an empty gift box meant to fool your loved ones. I’m planning on giving it to my husband. I’m not sure what I’ll put inside, but whatever it is, I’m sure it will be far less likely to result in a vehicular manslaughter charge than a real iDrive would.

I can’t wait until Christmas morning, when I can witness the look of horror on my husband’s face. Ah, ’tis the season!

Editor’s Note: You can buy an iDrive box at Amazon, too!

Tesla S Review: The Electric Car You’ll Want to Buy

Over a year ago, my dh let me know that a new electric car company, Tesla, was taking pre-orders for their cars. The Tesla was going to be an all-electric plug-in car, just what he wanted. Matt had looked at the Prius, and we had the Lexus CT 200h for a while (and his mom even has one!), but they just weren’t what he was looking for. This new Tesla Model S had the perfect combination of geek: lots of electronics, lots of batteries, lots of flash. Could he please, please, please buy this new car? Please? How could I disappoint him? Besides, when one back is scratched . . .

Anyway, the kids had a day off school early in November so we decided to maximize the fun by taking a trip to Disneyland. We’ve been there many, many times and were season pass holders at one point, so we were looking forward to the trip. But this trip was different because Tesla Motors recently opened a small showroom in the Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach, and that was the real point of the trip, right? Even the kids were excited to take a test drive in daddy’s new car because after all, we’ve heard about this car every day, several times a day—many times a day. For.The.Past.Year. Matt has even already wired an outlet in the garage in anticipation of plugging in his new car, even though its arrival isn’t expected until probably February. I really wanted to see the car to make sure the company that’s had our money for over a year is living up to its promises.

So let’s talk about driving Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year, shall we? It was made Car of the Year for a reason, right? Yup.

ABC Kids Expo 2012: What’s New from Kiddy, UPPAbaby, Kids Fly Safe (CARES), Ride Safer Travel Vest & Orbit Baby!

Whew! That’s quite a mouthful. But I’m desperately trying to get all our ABC Expo updates finished!

Truth be told, every CR manufacturer has stepped up their game BIG TIME in recent years and that makes me happier than a slinky on an escalator! ;)  Seriously – you have no idea how lame it was to be a carseat geek 15 years ago. Well, maybe you do – in which case, join me in celebration!

Kiddy

New fashions for Kiddy World Plus & Cruiserfix Pro

After having a few too many at the Diono booth earlier in the day, Baby Jack decided to volunteer for some OOP (Out of Position) testing with the Kiddy World Plus.  The resulting photo shoot was hysterical but I’m afraid to post the pics because I’ll probably offend the doll safety advocates (who no doubt hate me already for contributing to the delinquency of a baby doll).  ;)

Anyhow…. moving right along….
