Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 Convertible *Giveaway* – Week 7 of CarseatBlog’s Holiday Giveaway Bonanza!

For week 7 of our Holiday Giveaway Bonanza, we’ve partnered with our generous friends at Maxi-Cosi to offer a fabulous new Pria 70 convertible (without TinyFit insert) in the “Dress Blue” fashion!  This brand new convertible seat is a modification of the original Pria 70 with TinyFit insert. Since this new model lacks the additional insert it isn’t suitable for preemies or small newborns. This seat is rated from 9-40 lbs rear-facing and from 22-70 lbs forward-facing. The lowest harness position measures around 8.5″. The highest harness position is the same as the original model at 17.5″ tall. It still incorporates Dorel’s AirProtect technology for enhanced protection in side impact crashes.

Personally, I am VERY excited about this new addition to their product line! I really like the original Pria 70 but the TinyFit insert made it relatively complicated and most parents use an infant seat first and don’t necessarily want or need the additional insert.  We have a review of the original Pria 70 with TinyFit insert here and it’s on our list of Recommended Seats.

This promotion is now closed. Thank you for participating – a winner will be announced soon!

Happy Holidays from CarseatBlog!

I’ve got three kids spoiled from Hanukkah gifts and who are about to be over-spoiled from Christmas gifts as well.  Plus, we’re taking a short vacation and having lots of family and friends visit as well.  I know Heather, Kecia, Jennie and Alicia all have holiday plans, too.  So, we’re taking a couple weeks off and will return to blogging (and dieting?) the week of January 7th.  At least one of us will be checking in to announce contest winners and also to start our new promotion each Monday.  Stay tuned for some great giveaways and please tell your friends about CarseatBlog.  We hope to see you back with us in January :-)

Merry Christmas and have a Safe & Happy New Year in 2013 from CarseatBlog!

Toyota Prius V: Kids, Carseats & Safety Review. Which Hybrid for Your Family?

I reviewed the third generation 2010 Toyota Prius a few years ago.  Starting with model year 2012, Toyota gives those seeking great fuel economy a roomier version for both passengers and cargo.  The standard Prius hatchback has a lot of compromises for fitting carseats in back, so I’ll take a closer look at seating for both kids and adults in back.

The driving experience of the Prius V wagon is actually a lot like the typical Prius.  It’s not sporty, it’s not particularly quiet, and the ride isn’t the smoothest.  Still, you’re not buying it for luxury, you’re buying it for the 44 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, which I pretty easily topped in warm weather conditions around town.  Make no mistake, the “V” isn’t for “Van”.  The Prius V simply isn’t an alternative to a minivan or midsize SUV, as some other reviews might suggest.  In terms of size, it’s a nice alternative to a compact SUV or a midsize wagon.
