The Great Ozzi Giveaway Contest

This post was written by CPSDarren on April 21, 2009
Posted Under: Uncategorized

Clek the Merciful has agreed to provide an Ozzi backless booster for this week’s giveaway!  It’s the very first partner we’ve had for a carseat freebie!  But wait, there’s a catch!  Unlike past giveaways, this one won’t go to a random winner or to the first person who comments with a correct trivia answer.  The almighty Clek demands something in return!  Specifically, you must write a guest review (free of bad grammer) about your new Ozzi for CarseatBlog.com.  To prove your writing skills, you must also comment on this blog with your entry essay.

Essay, you say?  Indeed, Clek invokes nightmares from high school, college and professional exams to get your attention.  This one should be a lot more fun, however, and for your entry, no one is checking your spelling or grammar (as far as you know).  Also, it will be the shortest essay you’ve ever written, just a few words or a few lines. In no more than 100 words, Clek demands to know why your review will be the best one.  Be truthful;  maybe your kid’s name is Ozzi.  Fabricate; claim that a photo of you with a Clek tattoo will appear in the review.  Or maybe that would be truthful?  Whichever way you want to go, the omnicient Clek will be the judge as to whether your essay is good enough to win an Ozzi.

There are a few rules involved.  First, you must not have won a carseat giveaway or any giveaway from one of our sponsors or partners at CarseatBlog in the past (bags of stuff sent by CarseatBlog don’t count!).  Second, one entry per household/family.  Third, the winner is actually expected to create a comprehensive written and/or video review of your new Ozzi within a few weeks.  Please don’t enter with the intention of selling it on Carseat Swap or eBay or Craigslist or wherever.  The omnipotent Clek knows where you live!  The rules depend on the honor system, but for the sake of future giveaways, please abide by them.

The contest ends Sunday, whenever I get online and post a comment that it’s over- so you have some time to get creative! Winners announced sometime next week.

Good afternoon. My entry, to be considered by the well-regarded Clek, shall be in Haiku format.

Clarity in prose
Necessary to win
The esteemed Ozzi

And if that shall not suffice, I guarantee that your sales will increase by 382% in the two weeks following my review, or your money back.

Kind regards
The Car Seat Ninja

As an English teacher, I spend my days educating young minds on the methods of writing essays. I can be found with a red pen tucked behind my right ear. I can guarantee that any essay I submit will be grammatically correct and full of vivid word choices guaranteed to impress any reader.

Mine will.
obviously be.
the best.
because I.
talk in.
two word.
sentences all.
the time.
and clek.
ozzi is.
two words.
and therefore.
I should.
have this.
fabulous piece.
of equipment.
plus my.
car allows.
latch usage.
all the.
way to.
sixty pounds.
how cool.
is that.

plus have.
you seen.
my blog.
I am.
super funny.
and snarky.
and quite.
frankly I.
really rock.
the end.

I will have at least 10 children of appropriate age and size ride in the Ozzi in a variety of sedans, vans, and trucks to provide feedback for my review. It will also travel all over town in my pizza-delivery van, and end up smelling like yummy pizza. To sum up, you should pick me because I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!

I think you should pick me, for I can take glorious pictures of the Ozzi to go with my review (which as a CPST will be as thorough as possible), as I have a wonderful new camera set up with which to do so. As a bonus, the pictures will also include a super cute 8 year old redhead riding in the Ozzi! (I’m also sure that my very animated 5 year old would insist on having her picture taken in it as well.)

I would love the opportunity to review the Ozzi.
I don’t have any special super powers when it comes to writing, but I can string together sentences that make sense!
Photos of my two guinea pigs…um children, testing out the Ozzi would of course be included. Dd will put it through its paces in my Jetta, although since my son is only 3.5yo he will only sit in the booster for photos!
Do I get extra points for sharing your love of orange flavored Pez candy and coveting your model of the Safe Kids Van?

I have quite a few kids of varying ages & sizes (though appropriate) to test out the incredible Ozzi. i can compare this seat amongst its competitors for a thorough review. I will use my photography expertise to catch the unique personality of the Ozzi. My eldest is just months away from actually needing a backless booster. I’m sure that the licorice shade would win his heart as his first “Darth Vader” seat.

You should pick me because I love my ollie more than anyone else. In fact, I can be found, along with my son, staring at it with a look of wonder and love in our eyes. While I can’t claim wonderful photography skill, my kids are incredibly cute and would certainly add a lot to any picture. If you pick us, I will name our next fish after you! In fact, I will name the next 100 fishies after you.

Ha Ha, apparently I don’t love the olli enough to spell it right.

I told my 7 year old that he could enter into the contest – there is no age limit, correct? :p

[First, imagine bug eyed 7 yr old who is missing his two front teeth] “uh, Mommy, it doesn’t have a back. If I won it, would you let me sit in it? I write good, and I like boosters. I should win it, Mommy. I can tell everyone how much I like the booster, Mommy.”

So, there you have it. My 7 yr old should win the Ozzi because he’ll “write good” and tell everyone he knows, including all of his 7 yr old friends, that he likes the booster. :p (FWIW, I would probably assist him in his review, for the technical aspects. And I would definitely have to translate his handwriting to typing, though it would be neat to scan in his handwritten review. He’ll probably try to take the dang thing to show and tell. :sigh)

For the.
record I.
really don’t.
want the.
seat well.
of course.
i do.
because it’s.
a super.
cool seat.
and undoubtedly.
very safe.
but if.
i want.
to practice.
best practice.
then i.
shouldn’t put.
my young.
though large.
and very.
mature son.
in a.
backless booster.
that would.
be irresponsible.
and unsafe.
so I.
won’t do.
it but.
when the.
oobr comes.
out i.
would like.
to try.
that one.
please and.
i promise.
a fabulous.
two word.
review on.
the super.
special oobr.

my review would be the best because I would do a video to go with it and embed it in the review… featuring Jeffrey using the seat… He LOVES Clek… he has the olli already… and has been refusing to ride in anything else as of late.

Jeffrey is such a ham is would be all too willing to inform everyone just how much he loves his clek boosters and why they are the best backless boosters out there.

i’d love to win this seat because my son’s grandmother should win the prize for worst carseat useage ever–especially with harnessed seats. her “rule” is they only have to buckle the chest clip on the harness unless they “go on the highway.” as a result, i’m taking away all the wonderful HWH seats I gave her, and giving her boosters instead. this one would be perfect for my tall 90th percentile, oldest boy. at least i know grandma will make him use the seatbelt with the Ozzi. she’s shown that she’s willing to do at least that much. so, being saddled with such bad harnesed carseat use, we are the most needy :-)

Dear Clek the Merciful of the way-cool Land of Clek:
Pick me and your prized Ozzi would be tested and reviewed by one published poet (7YO DD2, whose poem has been selected for publication in the Fall 2009 Young American Poetry Digest) and one award-winning artist (7YO DD1, whose mixed-media painting was selected for the citywide K-8 “Art Ambassadors” exhibit).

If I were to win the Clek Ozzi I would write the best review ever aided by a wonderful and smart eight year old who is about the size of an eleven year old. S has told me many times how much she loves to “play” car seats and I know nothing but the truth would come from her innocent mouth. Her lovely little sister would most likely like to add her opinion from her not so innocent mouth…

I would most definitely like to win the Ozzi – because then I could buy a second one and name it Harriet…or Sharon.

I would love to win an Ozzi. My sons would love if I won an Ozzi. I would then have to buy a second Ozzi. They think the name Ozzi is really cool. My boys love trying out new seats and would be adorable and willing models for my wonderful review. The seat would have a full time home in my husband’s 09 Chevy Ext Cab pickup. It’s twin would be ordered shortly after.

If I win, I’ll consider naming my son3 Ozzi in honor of this:) He is due in July.

Well, my reveiw would be best because I have 4 kids that I could try with it, and review fit, and 2 that really need a bigger/wider backless booster. If it works for my 9 and 12 year old, then I might just buy a julius olli;) ANd if it doesn’t work for them (not wide enough) it would have a home in a wonderful 02 Cadillac deville complete with latch so that my 6 year old can use it when she goes out with daddy. ANd of course, I always supply pictures! Thankyou for your consideration, Clek the merciful!

I have to comment, mostly to say how much the other comments have made me giggle. That and “clek the merciful”.
I’d totally enter, if I weren’t me.

Good luck choosing, D.

Personally, the Haiku format makes me smile the most.

Short, to the point, it’d be awesome. :) Or the two word thingy. Or the English teacher thingy. Or all of them. actually, can you convince Clek to send all of them a booster, and they could compete for bestest review?

No? Pooh.

I would love to win an Ozzi, I would write the best review I could with the help of DD and my friends kids. I bet it would be one of the only Ozzi’s here on the Island. We don’t have a huge selections of seats here. I think there may be a store selling Clek’s now but not sure if any sold yet!! I would even buy extra clek jackets to make it even cooler!!I would recommend the Ozzi to everyone I saw with kids of booster age. Word of mouth is the best here on our “Small and Gentle Island! PEI, Canada

I would be honored to write the review, and my just-turned-eleven year old would love a backless a tad more comfortable than the slightly-too-narrow backless TB. I can talk the 12 1/2 year old into testing it as well (and without much effort….)

I would love to win this seat and would write a review (with the help of my ghost writer DH). I would even send a video of my 9 1/2 year old DS using the seat.

Keeping kids safe is my mission,
so I became a technician.

I wish I had a stimulus check,
to buy that Magna-Clek.

I have 2 nephews of a good age,
that will clearly help me set the stage.

I’ll have a good excuse,
to put that seat to use.

Tomorrow by this time,
I will have ended this rhyme,

So please, please, please,
pick me for this carseat tease!

(I promise my review won’t be as annoying!)

Ozzi, Ozzi You are so Sweet
You support the legs, which end at the feet
Your tantalizing armrests are nice and high
You position the seatbelt across the upper thigh
I dream of you Ozzi, every day and night
I just know you’d fit so right
Ozzi, please won’t you come home with me?
Heed my desperate,wistful plea

There once was a booster named Ozzi,
and a boy almost as tall as his mommy.
The mom was a CPS tech.
His seatbelt didn’t fit across his neck.
So he had to keep a booster under his heiny.

If not, here’s another one…

There once was a booster made by Clek,
and a boy whose seatbelt slid across his neck.
His mom wanted him safe.
So he wasn’t hurt when she hit the brake.
So for Clek she wrote a lim-e-(wreck).

Thank you all for the great entries! I’m glad I didn’t have to pick one!

Clek told me the decision was very difficult and that there was much deliberation, but ultimately selected entry #6 (Minniemouse) as the winner! Congratulations! Please send me a PM or email to cpsdarren “at” carseatblog “dot” com, or I will contact you shortly to get your address.

Thanks again everyone- stay tuned for another contest, though the prize won’t be nearly as nice as the Ozzi!
