More more more! new seats from the ABC Kids Show!  YES!

The First Years has a new combo seat coming called the International B830.  Relevant facts include:

  • 20-65 lbs. with harness
  • 30-100 lbs. as a booster
  • approx. 18″ top slots (the seats they had there were prototypes and subject to change)
  • EPS head liner, cupped to cradle a child’s head
  • front-to-back adjustable shoulder belt guides, like on the B570 booster
  • 2 crotch strap positions
  • 2 cupholders
  • 3 position recline
  • approved for LATCH in booster mode, but not tightly installed–just to keep the seat from becoming a projectile
  • back adjust harness height adjustment with a pull knob
  • $229
  • available in spring 2011

The First Years Via 35 infant seat has some great features.

  • lockoffs on the carrier itself
  • yes, you can install the carrier baseless!
  • base has self-ratcheting built-in LATCH with mini-connectors: push on LATCH connectors and push down on base to tighten
  • 4 recline positions on base
  • base not compatible with other Via models
  • angle indicator on carrier
  • single crotch strap position
  • 5 position shoulder slots
  • handle recommended in forward rebound position
  • will be available in Canada

Cool! So, questions:

International:

Top belt guide height in booster mode?
Will this be available in Canada?

I like the looks of the leg support in that side angle pic.

Via 35:

Is this going to be sold as a stand alone seat or only as part of a travel system like the original Via?

Bottom harness height?

Shell seat depth?

MSRP?

Can’t wait to see what Nicole reports back from Clek tomorrow!

Whew! I will settle myself and not get in a hurry to sell my Radian to get a Nauti or Frontier. I can wait. Still a little disappointed not to see a convertible with a 40lb RF limit from them, but I guess I can forgive them if they make a good combo seat.

Is it shallow that I just want the black flowery booster that’s peeking in the sides of the photo? Is that a prototype, or something that’s really going to be available?

I love the lockoffs on the infant seat, but I give it, like, a week after release before the seats are recalled for some parent leaving the lockoffs open and a child slamming their fingers/toes in them. Which stinks. SOMEONE will misuse them and they’ll end up recalled for being a ‘safety hazard’ because the kid has easy access to the lockoffs.

I really like the International.

A few more details – Via 35 will likely be available by early Spring 2011 and may actually be available in Canada a few weeks before we see it here in the US. The first batch might be sold only as a Travel System but it will be offered as a stand-alone product. Price in the US for just the carseat will probably be somewhere in the $139-$159 range. Bottom harness slots approx 7″. Top slots 12″.
I didn’t measure the distance to the belt guide on the International because it’s only a prototype and likely to change.
JOY – the black flowery booster was beautiful! We have more pics of that pattern that we’ll share in upcoming blog posts.

Please tell me the black flowery one was one of the “pathway” boosters, with the better beltpath? Puh-leeze? Or, was there any mention of the pathway, any new covers at akll, other than the yellow “bumblebee” one?

I’m pretty sure the black flowery one was a B540.
