Diono Rainier, Diono Pacifica and Diono Olympia!
The Diono Rainier is now available! See our preview here: Diono Rainier Convertible plus Booster Preview
Diono is debuting their new convertible series, based on the popular Diono Radian models. The new lineup will be added to the current Radian series. They feature somewhat deeper side wings than the Radian models. In the head area, a new compression wall design features “Rigid double wall structure for side impact protection.” The outside wall compresses under load to absorb additional energy in an impact, increasing side impact performance without increasing width. The new fabrics are soft, wick moisture for comfort and are wipeable. They will also include a “Safety Synergy” label and should arrive second quarter, 2014, at Amazon and other retailers. They will arrive in Canada around the same time as in the USA!
The Olympia is the first model, featuring the new covers, new fashions and improved side impact protection. It has a 45 pound rear-facing limit, 70 pounds forward-facing and 110 pounds in booster mode. $279.99 MSRP.
The Pacifica adds a deluxe infant body support cushion and increases the limits to 50 pounds rear-facing, 90 pounds forward facing and 120 pounds in booster mode. $319.99 MSRP.
The Rainier is the top model in the lineup (pictured above) and adds thicker, more protective looking adjustable headwings to the Pacifica. $359.99 MSRP.
All three models maintain an 80 pound Super LATCH rating, subject to 2014 federal standard changes.

I just spoke with Diono and they said that Olympia, Pacifica and Rainier will NOT fit 3 across in most midsize cars. However- upon more research it will fit in some. The new seats will be 18″ across at their widest (shoulders due to the deeper side walls) and 13″ at the hips (same as all Radians). You will need 54 inches of shoulder room to accommodate 3 seats in the back of a vehicle- with the doors closed. This means that if the specs on your car says 54 inches of shoulder room- go measure with the doors closed to be positive. I drive a 2002 Saturn LW300 Wagon, and I have 56 inches from handle to handle in the back seat, so 3 of the new model WILL fit. I have been researching these seats for a very long time and felt so frustrated when they said 3 will not fit- I just wanted to share these dimensions in case anyone else is in the same boat as me!
These look awesome and safe, but get it fitted to your car before you buy it!
A “no return on car seat policy” (or law in Ontario, they say) means I put the new Ranier in my wife’s car (Purple seat clashing with the red in an awful way) and put the 2 Britaxes in my car.
I have a big car, but the latch system in my car isn’t spaced in a compatible way for the Diono to fit snugly.
I’m a fan of the sunburst myself : D
There needs to be a pink!! I keep going back and forth on diono and clek foonf. I keep leaning towards the foonf because there is a pink option…
I really wish they would improve the angle and make it taller , come on what’s one more slat for the straps 🙂 Our daughter just turned 3 and she is already on the last slat forward facing. And the seat would not fit RF in the middle row even with the angle adjuster as my hubby is 6’4
Is that harness really bright pink?? Darn Diono for doing this to me! The only thing I like about my Radian is the cover (Flora). I swore nothing could ever convince me to buy another Radian, but that harness… Oh wait, if it is the same seat shell, it still won’t install well in my car. Whew.
Will the angle adjustor come free with these new seats? Or Thelonger crotch buckle? I’m getting tired of being nickel-and-dimed for these “extras” that I need to use my seat safely.
Any info when these new convertibles will be released? I need to buy some new seats and have been strongly considering the Radian, but with these having deeper sides I will likely buy these! Just curious how long I will have to wait!! Thanks 🙂
Darn!
@Ellen Duller, we measured the harness slots to be the same as on the Radian and were told that the shell is essentially the same height-wise.
So the shell is the same as the existing Radians? Is it all that likely that a child will hit 50 lbs and not have already “heighted out” of the seat RF? My 40 lb 3 year old is too tall to RF in a Radian.
When will they be available for purchase?
Wow, awesome. Love the local names, too. 🙂
Damn. Now I need another Radian! Ugh.
Naturally, right after I buy an RXT. 🙂
I agree fixing the install so no angle adjuster is needed would have been a good place to start with improvements.
oh my gosh…. those wings, love it!! I hate to admit this but i may just have to try one!
Ah!! I love the deeper side walls on these! That’s the only reason I went with the Marathon instead of the Radian. My DS is smaller so it would be forever before he reaches the current head wings. I’ll definitely be getting one of these if he outgrows his Marathon before around 4.
Any measurements on this seat yet? I’d love to know the details on rear facing height limits and harness heights.
This new series of seats is based on the current Radian model shell. So, the harness height and overall height and most other dimensions will be the same as the current Radians, possible minor differences in the head wings, of course.
Woot, slightly lower price point the the Foonf for a 50lbs seat. Good thing I’ve got a little time to save up so my youngest can make it past 2.5 RFing 🙂
When can I buy a Pacifica?! It’s rf as long as the foonf with more ff weight limit, and heaped. My prayers have been answered!!!
That blue seat may inspire me to sell and buy a new one.
I wish Diono would’ve considered re-designing the rear-facing boot to make it a more user-friendly install that wouldn’t require an angle adjuster.
What will the rear-facing height limit be?
What is the height limit and shell height of this seat??
I’m confused about the booster function–I see the lap belt guides. What about the shoulder belt guides though?
